Great advise Paula. I was glad to see you started with Market Intelligence. This is the hidden jewel of Twitter and the most valuable part for me. I find more industry news and information sooner on Twitter than any other source. I can then Tweet or ReTweet to pass this information to my followers. The ability to listen for conversations about my company, our products and issues concerning the aviation maintenance community has made Twitter my #1 Social Media site.
I would suggest watching Erik Qualman’s video on the speed of growth of Social Media: http://socialnomics.net/2010/05/05/social-media-revolution-2-refresh/

I just can't believe how many individuals post spam on websites, especially personal blogs just for the interest of howling link juice. I need to stay alert all day even with fancy plugins like Akismet. I don't want to imagine what would happen to my websites if I didn't had this kind of security. Get a real job spammers!

Great advice Paula (as usual). I really do think that there will be a first mover advantage for companies that embrace eNetworking (trying to call it something more business-like than Social Media) because they will create a sense of community and interaction with their customers and partners.

I think @CutterAviation is a really good example of that. They have used these eNetworking techniques to augment their "real-world" events such as their monthly BBQs. They also create a lot of buzz for themselves when they go to shows like NBAA.

To be successful, I think companies should also think about how they combine twitter with their blogs and websites, and how to get their executives involved. Two things I know you will tell them during your free consultation sessions.

Keep up the good work!
