Freelance Copywriting Services

Thanks for your interest!

You are probably browsing our web site for one of two reasons. It's possible that you're curious about freelance copywriting.

More likely, you need a good copywriter for business-to-business, technical, or consumer marketing - someone who can represent your product or service in a way that will get responses.

Whatever your reason for browsing today, you will want to know more before you hire any writer. If we were sitting in your office, you would ask questions, and we would give you the answers you needed.

What are your qualifications as writers?

We've written copy for more than 30 different companies. We have published articles in a number of publications, and have authored 2 books. You can see our Portfolio for some writing samples, and our Client List to see who we've worked with.

Paula has worked as a staff technical writer and advertising designer for Shipley Associates, Franklin Covey, and Magic Ads. She has a B.A. in Mass Communications and a Master's Degree in Adult Education. She has also worked as a web developer, marketing manager, e-learning designer, and document designer.

John has a B.S. in Business, and an Executive MBA from the University of Utah. He has professional and technical experience in writing business plans, strategy documents, and marketing materials. He has also written proposals for several consulting firms in both the private and public sector, as well as for defense contractors. He has written and taught technical courses of instruction.

Why would I hire the two of you rather than hiring just one freelance writer?

Quite simply, two brains are better than one. We have a broader range of expertise, and we can review each other's work.

A huge part of the success of any writing project is careful edits and reviews. If you've ever tried to edit your own material, you know that, no matter how carefully you read, you may miss something. We all have a tendency to see what we thought we had written, rather than what we actually wrote.

When you hire any freelance writer, be sure to find out who does their editing and reviewing. If they don't have an editor, then you (the customer) will end up doing that work. If they get a friend or relative, they may not have the expertise or professionalism you're looking for. When you hire us, we are BOTH accountable for the results, quality, and professional confidentiality.

As managers, we always tried to hire writers for projects in pairs. When you hire us, you get that advantage for a flat price (comparable to what other good copywriters charge) without the hassle of hiring two independent contractors.

Why would I hire the two of you rather than hiring a larger firm?

Quite simply, because we're faster, more flexible, and more professional than a large firm.

The account representative you talked with has one job - to acquire the contract for your business. He is probably not going to be doing the writing of your sales letter, or the designing of your brochure.. Large firms have an interest in using their less-experienced, less-expensive people to work on your project, keeping more of the fee you pay them as profits for the firm.

Large firms also may not have the flexibility to meet your particular needs and your particular deadlines. The account rep you talk to may not have the authority to make decisions to meet your needs.

When you hire us, you're talking to the owners of our company, and to the two people who will be doing the work on your project.

Do you have a technical background?

Between the two of us, we have worked as web developers, networking engineers, information technology managers, and project managers. We have worked with (and written about) web technology, PC technology, mainframes, electronics, engineering, transportation, software, banking, financial services, seminars, training, telecommunications, consulting, and corporate fields.

We have written and edited proposals both large and small, and have written several business plans.

Most importantly, we've written hundreds of ads, articles, newsletters, brochures, and sales letters for people like you. We've learned how to sell to corporate executives, technicians, entrepreneurs, managers, purchasing agents, and most demographics of consumers.

Do you have experience in my field?

If you sell to business, industry, professionals, or consumers, chances are we've written something very similar to what you need right now. Have a look at our samples. If you don't see something that's right up your alley, give us a call, and we'll send additional samples closer to your area of interest.

What kinds of assignments do you handle?

Most of our work involves the following:

  • Marketing plans
  • Business Plans
  • Web pages
  • Newsletters
  • Marketing brochures
  • Direct mail packages
  • Fact Sheets
  • Feature articles
  • Press releases
  • Case histories
  • Product guides
  • Manuals
  • Presentations and speeches

Clients appreciate that we can sit down with engineers, scientists, business professionals, and consumers (as in focus groups), ask intelligent questions, and speak their language.

We can't predict how many responses our brochure, newsletter or sales letter will pull for you. But we do guarantee that you will be satisfied with the copy you receive from us.

What does it cost to hire you for my project?

For any copywriting assignment - a direct mail package, sales letter, ad, brochure, feature article, or whatever - give us a call or drop us an email and let us know what you have in mind. We'll quote you a price with no obligation.

How long will it take to finish my project?

Ideally, we like to have 2-3 weeks to work on even small projects. That gives us time to research, review, edit and polish until we're completely happy with every word.

We realize that you might not be able to wait that long. If the job is a rush, indicate the date you need it by on the order form. If we take the job, we guarantee you'll have it by that date.

What happens if we want you to revise the copy?

Just tell us what you want improved and what the changes are, and we'll make them - fast. There is NO CHARGE for rewriting. Revisions are included in the flat fee we agreed to for the assignment, provided they are received within 30 days of your receipt of the copy, and are not based on a change in the assignment after the copy as been submitted.

Most clients are pleased and enthusiastic about our copy when they receive it. But if you are not 100 percent satisfied, we will revise the copy according to your specific guidelines. . . and at our expense.

Do you handle the design and printing?

Generally, no. We do simple desktop publishing for fact sheets or newsletters, but many of our clients will use our copy in more than one format - in an e-mail, on a web page, in a brochure, in a sales letter, et cetera. Many of our clients already have printers and designers that do work that's convenient for them.

We focus on giving you the very best written content at a fair price. Unless we've agreed otherwise, we submit copy to you electronically, in manuscript form, and provide a design brief with some ideas for optimal deployment.

If you need photography, graphics, desktop publishing or design work for your catalog or brochure, we can recommend some great resources for you that we've worked with ourselves. We know you'll be delighted with their quality and service.

How do I order work from you?

Putting us to work is easy. First, tell us what you're selling and who you're selling it to. Send your brochure, catalog, or any literature that gives us the background we need to write your copy. Don't worry about organizing anything. We'll do that. If we have any questions (and we usually do) we'll pick up the phone and call you.

If you'd like to get together to go over the job in person, we can do that, too. We're available by teleconference (WebEx or NetMeeting) as well.

When you give us the go-ahead, you can rest assured that you will receive your copy on or before the deadline date. Remember that it is guaranteed to please you.

Try our service for your next sales letter, web page, newsletter, brochure, or direct mail package. We promise that you will be delighted with the results.
